History of the Red Panther
This is not a kit car. It's a
collector's car made in 1979 by Panther Westwinds
in England. The engine is
a Vauxhall, made by GM in England.
The model is a Lima Turbo. I was told by
the 2nd owner,
a retired school teacher from Long Beach, California that
the car was first purchased in
1981 by Suzanne Sommers. She gave or sold
the car to her producer who
gave it to his college-aged daughter to use
during summer vacations.
The car was stolen, recovered with some damage to
the black "spoiler" under
the front of the car, and sat in a salvage yard
for some months.
The Panther was discoverd by the retired school teacher who painted
the
car red and was able to competely repair the car to its original
condition.
(The fuel guage does not work) The Kenwood AM/FM tape deck works
great.
Heater but no AC (just take the top down).
Because of how it was
discovered, "salvage" now appears on the registration
papers for the car.
In 1990 my wife and I went to the auto center that used to sell
Panthers
desiring to buy one, but were told that Panther Westwind no longer
existed
as a company. The salesman saw an add in the paper for a Panther
and
contacted us, so we went to Long Beach to see the car. It was love a
first
sight- we bought the car on the spot.
The car has no difficulty passing the California smog test.
It has
been maintained well with continuous insurance coverage.
The car runs well
with only 20,557 original miles as of 10/20/03.
Why are we selling it?
Moving to Oregon with a need to settle some bills before the move.
It
does have 2 dings on the hood and there is a paint defect also on
the hood
- which can be easily fixed.
Some parts can be obtained here in the
United States, the rest are carried by
a company in England.
We have kept the car in the garage for the 13 years that we have had
it.
Such a fun car to drive and the lines are so beautiful.
We fear
that we may never see such a lovely thing again and have very mixed
feelings about selling.
E-mail site for the panther: www.pantherclub.co.uk
Number in
England is 011 44 1252540217. Remember the time difference
The car comes with the parts book which enables you to
get the
correct part when needed.

ABOUT THE SOLDXPRESS SERVICE Soldxpress is a service for busy
individuals
that have little time to deal with the sale of a vehicle. We
come out to you and take about
80 professional photographs of your car. We
use the best 25-30 pictures to build the
kind of presentation that you can
see here. We place your car in the auction, and
manage the action for the
seven days, answering all the e-mails with details about your
car to help
the buyers make their bids. We'll find you a buyer with cash in hand, ready
to
take your vehicle home with them. Once the cash is in your hands the
deal is done.
It is up to the buyer to take or ship the car where ever they
want.
It's a simple process, but very effective.
